A.M.O. — Alexandre Mury Ontology is an authorial ontology and knowledge organization system developed by Alexandre Mury to document artworks, concepts, concept schemes, relational terms, terminology authorities, and semantic relations emerging from his artistic and theoretical practice.
It works in dialogue with CIDOC CRM, SKOS, Schema.org, JSON-LD, RDF, Wikidata, DOI-based scholarly circulation, and linked open data practices without replacing them.
CIDOC CRM supports documentary and museological description. SKOS organizes concepts and controlled vocabularies. Schema.org supports web discovery. JSON-LD supports machine-readable publication. A.M.O. provides an authorial vocabulary and semantic architecture for describing relational, conceptual, documentary, poietic, methodological, and epistemic operations that may not be sufficiently specified by standard cultural heritage models.
The purpose of A.M.O. is to make artistic thought more legible and interoperable across human reading, cultural heritage documentation, linked open data, search engines, and artificial intelligence systems, without prescribing a single interpretation of the works.
A.M.O. does not prescribe a single interpretation of the works.
A.M.O. does not replace CIDOC CRM, SKOS, Schema.org, Wikidata, DOI records, museum records, scholarly references, or external criticism.
A.M.O. does not convert artistic practice into a closed theoretical doctrine.
A.M.O. does not treat external sources, interlocutors, genealogies, or analogies as the authorial origin of its concepts.
A.M.O. does not require every future artwork, relation, concept, or concept scheme to be manually listed on this page in order to be interoperable. Each record is identified by its own canonical URI and carries its own human-readable page and machine-readable metadata.
The A.M.O. namespace was created to provide stable, persistent, machine-readable identifiers for artworks, concepts, concept schemes, relational operations, events, documents, persons, and external anchoring nodes associated with Alexandre Mury's artistic and theoretical practice.
The subdomain https://id.alexandremury.art/ functions as a cataloguing, museological, semantic, and machine-readable layer.
It is distinct from the visual and public-facing website https://www.alexandremury.art/, which remains oriented toward broader human presentation.

A.M.O. records are structured as paired canonical records: a human-readable index.html and a corresponding machine-readable metadata.jsonld.
Each canonical record may describe a concept, artwork, person, scheme, relational term, external anchoring node, document, event, material manifestation, digital object, or semantic relation.
The ontology remains extensible. New records, terms, artworks, relations, schemes, or external anchoring nodes may be added, renamed, reorganized, or withdrawn as the system develops, without altering the general namespace policy or the autonomy of already published records.
Aggregate distributions such as ontology.jsonld, concepts.jsonld, RDF/Turtle files, and CIDOC CRM serializations may be generated from the canonical records when appropriate.
The documentary layer uses CIDOC CRM to describe agents, events, identifiers, rights, documents, collections, institutional relations, material manifestations, and records associated with artworks.
In this layer, a material manifestation may be modeled as crm:E22 Human-Made Object, a production process as crm:E12 Production, a performative realization as crm:E7 Activity, and a documentary or digital record as crm:E31 Document or crm:E73 Information Object.
Post-conceptual artworks may require layered modeling. A canonical artwork record should not be reduced automatically to a single physical object, support, image file, event, concept, or document.
The conceptual layer uses SKOS, Schema.org, CIDOC CRM, and A.M.O. properties to document authorial concepts as independent conceptual entities.
These concepts are not merely keywords. They have identity, definition, scope, authorship, documentation, and the possibility of reuse in other contexts.
The methodological concept-scheme layer uses skos:ConceptScheme and schema:DefinedTermSet to organize authorial concepts that may also function as methods, procedures, critical devices, relational structures, or generative principles.
Its principal current scheme is Poietic Epistemology of the Image. The scheme occupies a superordinate organizational position within A.M.O. without converting the concepts associated with it into a closed taxonomy, a linear sequence, or mutually interchangeable expressions of a single method.
Conceptual status and methodological function are not mutually exclusive within A.M.O. A concept may formulate a distinction while simultaneously operating as a procedure through which artistic, documentary, semantic, institutional, or computational action becomes possible.
Relational terms qualify modes of relation between artworks, images, bodies, figures, iconographic traditions, symbolic archives, and pre-existing cultural signs.
They do not prescribe interpretation. They describe modes of relation.
The terminology authority layer registers authorized forms, original labels, language of origin, canonical slugs, authorial coinage, publication sources, Wikidata alignment, DOI circulation, and indexing strategy.
The machine-readable layer distributes semantic information through JSON-LD and other RDF-compatible structures. Each canonical record carries its own metadata.jsonld, allowing human-readable documentation and machine-readable description to remain synchronized without overloading the visual page.

A.M.O. distinguishes between a concept scheme and the individual concepts associated with it. The scheme provides an organizational and generative structure; the concepts retain their own definitions, scopes, provenance, and operational autonomy.

Within A.M.O., Poietic Epistemology of the Image functions as the superordinate methodological concept scheme through which authorial concepts that may also operate as methods, procedures, critical devices, relational structures, or generative principles are articulated.
The scheme is not identical to A.M.O. as a whole, nor does it designate the general academic field of epistemology of the image. A.M.O. constitutes the broader artistic, conceptual, documentary, semantic, and computational system. Poietic Epistemology of the Image organizes a methodological layer within that system.
The scheme does not reduce its associated concepts to a fixed hierarchy or a single operational sequence. Its organizational hierarchy is generative rather than doctrinal: it makes relations explicit while preserving conceptual differences, multiple paths of activation, and the possibility of revision.
The following terms identify the current authorial conceptual terminology of A.M.O. in Portuguese and English. This list is not exhaustive, closed, or definitive. It records concepts currently integrated into the ontology as authorial conceptual references.
A.M.O. remains extensible. Concepts may be added, deferred, renamed, reorganized, or withdrawn as the ontology develops, without altering the general namespace policy or the autonomy of already published records.
Association with Poietic Epistemology of the Image does not imply that these concepts are synonymous, equally formalized, or reducible to a single method. Some may function primarily as methods, others as conceptual diagnoses, relational structures, critical devices, or infrastructural propositions. Several may occupy more than one of these functions according to the situation in which they are activated.
A.M.O. distinguishes between an artwork, a concept, and the relation between them.
An artwork may mobilize one or more concepts. A concept may be mobilized by one or more artworks. Neither relation exhausts the meaning of the work or the concept.

Use principle
An artwork may mobilize a concept without being reduced to that concept. A concept may have an operational instance without being limited by that instance.
Relational terms describe how artworks relate to prior images, figures, traditions, archives, symbolic structures, or cultural signs.
They are not interpretive commands. They do not determine how a work must be read. Their function is to name relational operations that may be present in a work without exhausting its meaning.

A.M.O. adopts an intentional bilingual register.
English supports international indexing, RDF/Linked Data circulation, Wikidata alignment, search-engine retrieval, and machine-readable processing.
Portuguese preserves the conceptual origin, linguistic specificity, and authorial genealogy of the terms.
The two registers do not compete. They operate in different computational and discursive environments while referring to the same conceptual entities.
Indexing goal
To make concept schemes, concepts, artworks, and semantic relations discoverable by humans, cataloguing systems, knowledge graphs, search engines, and artificial intelligence systems without sacrificing conceptual specificity.
